How to get a Cherry Sapling in Survival Mode

You can add a cherry sapling to your inventory in Survival mode by chopping down the leaves of a cherry tree. So, let's get started!

1. Find a Cherry Tree

First, you need to find a cherry tree in your Minecraft world. Cherry trees are usually found in the Cherry Grove biome.

2. Hold an Axe

Although you can use your hand to chop down the leaves of a cherry tree, we prefer to use a tool such as an axe. These are the axes you can choose from:

In this example, we are going to use a diamond axe.

TIP: If you are looking for a cherry sapling, be sure to chop the leaves from the tree. If you chop down the tree trunk, it will give you a cherry log and not a cherry sapling.

3. Break the Cherry Leaves

The game control to break the cherry leaves depends on the version of Minecraft:

For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the cherry leaves.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the cherry leaves.
For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the cherry leaves.

You will need to continue to chop until a cherry sapling falls from the tree.

4. Pick up the Cherry Sapling

Make sure you pick up the cherry sapling before it disappears.
