How to make a Mangrove Log in Minecraft
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a mangrove log with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, a mangrove log is a new item that was introduced in the Wild Update. A mangrove log is an item that you can not make with a crafting table or furnace. Instead, you need to find and gather this item in the game.
Let's explore how to add a mangrove log to your inventory.

How to get a Mangrove Log in Survival Mode
You can add a mangrove log to your inventory in Survival mode by finding mangrove trees growing in a Mangrove Swamp biome and then chopping down the top portion of tree trunk. So, let's get started!
1. Find a Mangrove Tree
First, you need to find a mangrove tree in your Minecraft world. Mangrove trees are found the Mangrove Swamp.
2. Break the Mangrove Leaves
Next, break the mangrove leaves from the top portion of the tree. The game control to break the mangrove leaves depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the mangrove leaves.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the mangrove leaves.
- For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the mangrove leaves.
Once you remove the mangrove leaves, you should be able to see a mangrove log behind. Mangrove logs only grow at the top of the mangrove tree.
3. Hold an Axe
Although you can use your hand to chop down a mangrove log, we prefer to use a tool such as an axe. These are the axes you can choose from:
In this example, we are going to use a diamond axe because it is a faster tool.
4. Chop down the Mangrove Log
The game control to chop down the mangrove log depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the mangrove log.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the mangrove log.
- For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the mangrove log.
You will need to continue to chop until a small mangrove log finally appears.
5. Pick up the Mangrove Log
Make sure you pick up the mangrove log before it disappears.
Once you pick up the mangrove log, it will appear in your hotbar.
A mangrove log is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
