How to Use a Glow Item Frame in Minecraft

In Minecraft, you can hang just about anything on the wall using either an item frame or a glow item frame. But because the glow item frame is also a light source and glows in the dark, it is much easier to see the item inside. Let's explore how to use a glow item frame.
Required Materials
In Minecraft, these are the required materials to use a glow item frame:
Steps to Use a Glow Item Frame
1. Place the Glow Item Frame
A glow item frame is a great way to add some decor to your shelter. You can hang most items on the wall using a glow item frame.
To use a glow item frame, first, select the glow item frame in your hotbar. If you don't have a glow item frame in your inventory, you can quickly make one with a crafting recipe for a glow item frame.
Next, position your pointer (the plus sign) on the block where you want the glow item frame to appear. You should see the block become highlighted in your game window.
The game control to place the glow item frame depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the block.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the block.
- For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the block.
- For Education Edition, right click on the block.
You should now see an empty glow item frame on the block (Note: we have also placed a regular item frame to the right of the glow item frame so that you can compare them).
2. Place an Item inside the Glow Item Frame
Next, select in your hotbar the item that you want to place in the frame. In this example, we are going to frame a glow squid spawn egg.
The game control to place the spawn egg inside the glow item frame depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the glow item frame.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the glow item frame.
- For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the glow item frame.
- For Education Edition, right click on the glow item frame.
Now, the glow squid spawn egg will appear inside the frame (Note: we have also placed a glow squid spawn egg inside the regular item frame to the right of the glow item frame so that you can compare them).
3. Adjust the Item inside the Glow Item Frame
Once you have placed an item inside of a glow item frame, you can adjust the item. Let's have a closer look.
The game control to adjust the item inside the glow item frame depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the glow item frame.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the glow item frame.
- For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the glow item frame.
- For Education Edition, right click on the glow item frame.
Each time you adjust the glow item frame, it will rotate the item clockwise inside the frame.
