Steps to Breed Frogs
1. Find Two Frogs
First, you need to find two frogs. Frogs can be found in the Swamp and Mangrove Swamp biomes.

2. Use the Slimeballs
Next, with the slimeballs selected in your hot bar, you will need to feed a slimeball to each of the frogs, one at a time.
The game control to use/feed the slimeballs to the frogs depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the frogs one at a time.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the frogs one at a time.
- For Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the frogs one at a time.
As you feed the slimeballs to the frogs, you will see red hearts appear over their heads. Each of these frogs is entering love mode.
Once you have fed both frogs, they will turn to each other and red hearts will continue to appear over their heads.
3. Pregnant Frog will lay Frogspawn
Now, one of the frogs has become pregnant and searches for a water block to lay Frogspawn.
4. Frogspawn will Hatch
After a few minutes, the Frogspawn will hatch into tadpoles (Frogspawn can produce between 2 and 6 tadpoles). The amount of time that it takes for the Frogspawn to hatch can vary considerably, so be patient. It may take 2 minutes or it may take 20 minutes, but it will happen!
5. Tadpoles will mature into Frogs
When a tadpole grows up, it turns into a frog. This step takes even longer than the previous! So you have 2 options - you can either wait and let your tadpoles grow into frogs naturally or you can speed up the process using slimeballs.
Speed up the Aging Process
If you choose to speed up the process, you can feed slimeballs to the tadpoles to help them age faster. As they age, you will see green particles appear.
Once the tadpoles are fully mature, they will turn into frogs. The type of frog the tadpole becomes depends on the biome (ie: warm, temperate, cold). Learn more about tadpoles and their respective biomes.
