Wear the Enchanted Armor
Once you have armor enchanted with Fire Protection, you need to wear the enchanted armor. You will not gain the fire protection until the armor items are worn.
Move each of the armor items (helmet, chestplate, leggings, boots) with Fire Protection from your inventory to your character's armor boxes.
You will see your character's appearance change as the armor is worn.
Now that you are wearing the enchanted armor with Fire Protection, the amount of damage that you will take from fire and lava will be reduced.
