First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3x3 crafting grid that looks like this:

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 crafting grid. To make purple dye, place 1 blue dye and 1 red dye in the 3x3 crafting grid.
When making purple dye, it is important that the blue dye and red dye are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 blue dye in the first box and 1 red dye in the second box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for purple dye.
